Hi all,
I know this is a little late, but I’ve had a great Father’s Day and I hope you all have too! My lovely wife took E.V. and me to the Hong Kong Tea for a special lunch of Dim Sum. Lesley and I had delicious Shrimp Stuffed Eggplant and various other delectables. E.V. got egg custards and miso soup. Usually, E.V. will ignore anything in favor of egg custard, but she is on a soup kick right now and when the miso came, her face lit up. She even learned the correct way to hold a spoon today and managed to eat most of her soup without spilling much!
Then we headed out to the Old Trace Park to play in the sun and feed the ducks. We tried to play with a beach ball, but the wind was so strong that no matter where we tried to throw it, it would end up 30 yards downwind. Then we tried bubbles, and as soon as the wand left the container all the bubbles would blow out. Which is great, except the bubbles would race away before E.V. had a chance to pop them, which miffed her a little.
There were a lot of other families at the park today because it was so beautiful, even if it was windy. So many people in fact, that the usual flock of geese had been scared off far into the water. We walked along the reservoir and managed to find a lone duck fighting against the swells caused by all the boats, so we tried feeding her popcorn.
As soon as the geese saw what we were doing they quickly overcame their fear and came to get some as well. E.V. tried hand feeding one of the geese, it tried to swallow the entire hand. E.V. screamed and then the geese and E.V. gave each other a wide berth. Here’s a one minute clip taken from a periscope stream I tried:
Once the sun became a little too much for E.V. we headed home to Skype with Lesley’s family. E.V. loves Skyping with her Grandparents. I have the TV in the living room set up to do Skype, so everyone looks life-sized to her. She’ll often stop and point at the TV sign ‘grandma’ and say, ‘Where grandma go?’ It’s cute. What’s even cuter is her names for her grandpa. Pee paw, Pap paw, Paw paw, Pappy, and pretty much anything but Grandpa which is what I think he prefers. She’s 20 months old and I know she’ll get better, but right now it’s pretty funny.
Then it was time for a home cooked steak dinner! Medium-Rare Ribeye Steak, Mashed Potatoes and Gravy, and Mixed Vegetables, so delicious! I nicked myself on the tip of the thumb while cutting up the onions, but E.V. heard me yelp and came to kiss it better, (and Lesley got me a band-aid and Neosporin which also helped.).
All in all, it was a pretty great Father’s Day. I got to spend it with my favorite girls and that’s all I really wanted!
And as a special bonus, since I didn’t put it on here last year, here’s the video we made for my first father’s day:
Cheers,
